Add Your Mailbox on iPhone

This guide explains how to add your ExtendyMail mailbox to the Mail app that comes with your iPhone. The account will be configured using IMAP so that your messages and folders stay synchronized between your iPhone, webmail, and other devices.

Before you begin

Make sure you have:

  • Your full email address, such as [email protected].
  • The password for your email account.
  • An internet connection on your iPhone.
If two-factor authentication is enabled

If two-factor authentication is enabled on your email account, use an App Password instead of your normal email password. Your normal password will not work when adding the account to the Mail app.

Mail server settings

You will need the following settings during setup:

SettingValue
Account typeIMAP
Incoming mail servermail.emailhome.com
Incoming port993
Incoming securitySSL/TLS
Outgoing mail servermail.emailhome.com
Outgoing port465
Outgoing securitySSL/TLS

Add the account

Menu names can vary slightly depending on your iOS version.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. On recent iOS versions, select Apps, then Mail, then Mail Accounts. On older versions, select Mail, then Accounts.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Enter your email address if requested, then select Next.
  5. Select Add Other Account, then Mail Account. On older versions, select Other, then Add Mail Account.

Enter your account information

Enter the following information:

  • Name: The name recipients should see when you send them an email.
  • Email: Your full email address.
  • Password: Your email password, or an App Password if two-factor authentication is enabled.
  • Description: A name that helps you identify the account on your iPhone, such as Work Email.

Select Next when you finish.

Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings

  1. Select IMAP at the top of the screen.
  2. Under Incoming Mail Server, enter:
    • Host Name: mail.emailhome.com
    • User Name: Your full email address.
    • Password: Your email password or App Password.
  3. Under Outgoing Mail Server, enter:
    • Host Name: mail.emailhome.com
    • User Name: Your full email address.
    • Password: Your email password or App Password.
  4. Select Next and wait while the Mail app verifies the settings.
Outgoing server details are required

Your iPhone may label the outgoing mail server username and password as optional. Enter them anyway; they are required to send email from your account.

After the settings are verified, make sure Mail is enabled, then select Save.

Test the account

Open the Mail app and send a message to your own email address. Confirm that the message appears in your inbox to make sure that both sending and receiving are working.

If the account cannot be verified

Check the following:

  • The host name is entered exactly as mail.emailhome.com.
  • The username is your full email address, not only the part before @.
  • The password is correct.
  • An App Password is being used if two-factor authentication is enabled.
  • SSL is enabled for both incoming and outgoing mail.
  • The incoming IMAP port is 993.
  • The outgoing SMTP port is 465.
